Parcoblatta pensylvanica is a species of cockroach native to eastern North America. It is also known as the Pennsylvania wood cockroach or wood roach. This species has a flattened body and is brown in color, with two light-colored stripes running down the length of its thorax. It is commonly found in wooded areas, where it feeds on decaying plant matter and occasionally on other insects. Unlike many other species of cockroach, the Pennsylvania wood cockroach is not usually considered a household pest. Instead, it is often seen as a beneficial insect in natural ecosystems, helping to break down organic matter and recycle nutrients. These cockroaches are also a food source for many animals, including birds, rodents, and reptiles.
